This Father’s Day The Eric Dickerson Foundation and Young Warriors Foundation will give hope to hundreds of fatherless children and single parents with the free Football Camp. This event will take place at Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 21st, 2015 at 9am-3:30pm. Camp counselors for the event are Eric Dickerson, Marcus Allen, Marshall Faulk, Willie Gault, Anthony Miller, Jackie Slater and other local athletes and celebrities.

“I am extremely excited to be partnering with Young Warriors for this inaugural event that will give hope to many children growing up in our community without fathers” said Eric Dickerson. “It’s all about letting the kids and parents know that they are not alone. There are resources out there that want to help these kids, like the Young Warriors Foundation.”

The event will be full of fun activities, free haircuts, prizes, and gift bags. All attending parents will also receive a free three-hour parenting seminar that includes tips and strategies on raising children in an absent-father home. The athletes and celebrities we’ll be doing all the skills coaching during the events, teaching agility, formation, foundational football skills, health and nutrition tips but more importantly they will provide a day full of fun activities, words of affirmation and hope for the children and their mothers.

Fatherlessness has become a crisis in America. Eric Dickerson and Young Warriors Foundation founder, Jason Hill, both grew up without their biological fathers; however, there was one big difference in the lives of these two men. The Hall of Fame running back and Los Angeles Rams legend was fortunate enough to have good men step into his life and guide him, whereas Jason grew up in the inner city of Akron, Ohio in a drug-ridden neighborhood with no one to serve as his guide.

The two men took different roads that eventually led them to where they are today, and while Jason’s road was full of tragedy and challenge, he was eventually able to overcome his circumstances and triumph - just as Eric had.  Their stories are vastly different, yet equally amazing.  Wanting to give other young children the same chances at succeeding that they were given, these two men and their foundations have collaborated to make an enormous impact on as many children as possible.

Celebrities confirmed to attend include Marcus Allen, 6-time Pro Bowl selection, Super Bowl champ and MVP, and Heisman Trophy recipient; Marshall Faulk – 7-time Pro Bowl selection, Super Bowl champion; Willie Gault, (Bears), David Hill (LA Rams), Leroy Irvin (LA Rams), Jackie Slater (LA Rams), Anthony Miller (Cowboys).

The Eric Dickerson Foundation is committed to providing positive influences through youth sports, education, and leadership by building community partnerships with other non-profit organizations, schools, and military services. We strive to develop our youth into resilient leaders of tomorrow by teaching encouragement, perseverance and the importance of giving back to their communities.
