Beyonce’s highly anticipated announcement—which many suspect will be an upcoming tour–scheduled for Tuesday was postponed due to the devastation. The superstar is saving her news for another day, and focused instead on the public effort to restore and rebuild.
She donated $2.5 million and encouraged the public to donate directly to support families through her charity foundation, BeyGood.
“The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires,” reads an Instagram post.
Sharon Stone and Halle Berry are donating clothes, shoes and more to a local volunteer group.
Comedian Jay Leno put his vintage fire truck to good use on Tuesday by driving it to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. One of several vintage vehicles owned by Leno, the 1941 American LaFrance fire truck was a welcome sight, as it doubled as a food truck feeding first responders (including underpaid prison inmates). “It’s good to have your own fire truck when you live in L.A.,” Leno said. He plans to visit other locations this week.
All in this together
Like thousands of Angelenos who suddenly found themselves displaced by the fires, a few celebrities also had their homes destroyed. Among them are Beyonce’s mom Tina Knowles, Mandy Moore, Anna Faris, Milo Ventimiglia, Paris Hilton, Jeff Bridges, Bozoma Saint John, Mel Gibson, Billy Crystal and Diane Warren.
Pasadena’s Ice House Brings Comic Relief for Eaton Fire Victims
Comedian Jiaoying Summers headlined a comedy show to raise money for Eaton Fire survivors on January 15. “As a single mom I need you to be there…Don’t be my unsupportive ex-husband,” Summers said. All proceeds went to fire relief, and the Ice House matched all donations.
Benefit Concert at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome
Intuit Dome will host a benefit concert dedicated to rebuilding communities and supporting efforts to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California. FireAid, an evening of music and solidarity will take place on Thursday, January 30, with performers and ticket information announcements scheduled for the coming days.
So far, the Eagles have donated $2.5 million to FireAid. It is not clear if the rock band will be part of the benefit concert, as they are in the middle of a residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, which runs though April.
Proceeds from the concert will go towards a 501(c)(3) created for this event that will focus on rebuilding infrastructure, supporting displaced families, and advancing fire prevention technologies and strategies to ensure LA is better prepared for fire emergencies. This special event is produced by Shelli, Irving, and the Azoff family, in conjunction with Live Nation and AEG Presents.
