Every year in the US, 3,572 people die from drowning. Nine hundred and forty-five of

locations of drownings, near drowning, and prevention.
Summer fun was on the minds of Inglewood families when they attended the annual Splish Splash
event on May 17. Held at Edward Vincent Park Swim Complex, the water safety program was the
perfect way to welcome the upcoming opening of Inglewood’s community pool. CPR
demonstrations, information on water safety, and swimwear and gear and face painting rounded out
the day’s activities.
Participating partners and organizations included Sportsman Billards, te Glass Slipper Foundation,
SGR Houp Dates, Storm Burger, and Bailiff Cinderon Justice for All.

While water play is lots of fun, Splish Splash exists to make sure play time doesn’t end in tragedy.
Every year in the U.S., over 3.500 people die from drowning. One in four drowning deaths involve
children. Splish Splash is a life-saving program that brings awareness, safety tips, workshops, and
swim lessons along with nutrition and fitness education to families.
Established in 2013 in Riverside California, Splish Splash was created Stancil Olympian
Foundation, Inc. It resulted from a scholarship from the National Senior Games
Association.
Stancil was so moved by athe Association’s generosity that she formed the water safety
program as a way to give back to the community, children of all ages, adults, seniors,
and disabled participants. Bringing awareness, safety tips, workshops, swim lessons,
along with nutrition and fitness education.
The Program has been in existence for 4 years and has served over 1000 participants.
Vivian Stancil worked for many years to better herself and those
around her. Despite being blind, she became an Olympic Swimmer and
continues to swim to this day. Vivian is a champion, an advocate, and
a community leader who believes that the recipe for success is equal
parts faith and dedication
