LOS ANGELES, CA – Coverfly, the online screenwriter’s platform which connects their work to the global entertainment industry, announced submissions are open for “Coverfly Pitch Week,” bi-annual, free, merit-based, virtual pitch sessions for emerging writers. This program is the entertainment industry’s most significant free pitch event for screenwriters. Connecting writers with members of the film and TV industries, 100 screenwriters and screenplays will be chosen from thousands of applicants. The selected writers will get individual video pitch meetings with management companies, agencies, producers, and development executives during the week of September 21. The deadline to apply for this free program is August 28.

“This program is a creative matchmaker for screenwriters and the industry,” said Tom Dever, Head of Writer Development at Coverfly. “It gives industry professionals a chance to meet emerging writers that they would not have had exposure to if it wasn’t for this program. It is a pipeline for undiscovered writers and scripts for Hollywood. Thousands of writers and industry professionals are connected via Coverfly each year.”

A record number of applications is expected based on the triple-digit growth of new Coverfly memberships and submissions since March this year. The program debuted in 2019 and is more relevant than ever during these unprecedented times.

“This program is part of our mission to further the careers of emerging screenwriters,” said Dever. “With in-person networking and meetings off the table with the COVID shutdowns, the importance of a merit-based, virtual networking programs like ‘Pitch Week’ is the new standard of talent-discovery for the industry. We created this platform to allow unknown writers to connect with the industry and vice versa regardless of location. We centered on skills and data that we aggregate from dozens of the industry’s top talent-discovery fellowships, lists, competitions, and coverage services.”

Coverfly offers Pitch Week twice per year. One hundred writers will be chosen for the program based on writing samples and their Coverfly profile, which aggregates their past placements in writing competitions, fellowships, and labs. Finalists will have virtual video conference meetings and phone calls with Hollywood producers, literary agents and managers at companies like CAA, Good Fear, Circle of Confusion, Zero Gravity, Lit Entertainment, Cartel Entertainment, Management 360, Bellevue, 3Arts, and many more. Members of the entertainment industry can filter by genre, format, writer demographics, location, and Coverfly Score. Since the platform launched, over 100 writers have gone on to gain representation and option agreements via Coverfly.

The final deadline to apply is August 28th. Writers will be chosen and announced by September 7th | Pitches held the week of September 21st – 25th, 2020.
