Holly Mitchell, 2nd District Los Angeles County Board Member Elect Called-in to Council Meeting

Before this week’s city council meeting got underway, California Senator Holly Mitchell and 2nd District Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Member-Elect, called in to express that she looked forward to working with the Inglewood Council Members as she assumes her new responsibilities representing the 2nd Supervisorial District. Each Council member extended their congratulations on her successful campaign and wished her well in her latest elected position.

The council adopted a resolution ratifying the following appointment to the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB): On October 13, 2020, the City of Gardena appointed Mr. Devan Metcalfe, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Memorial Hospital of Gardena, to serve a term of office ending June 30, 2024.

The council approved a three-year cooperative blanket purchase order with Home Depot (with the option to extend three additional years in one-year increments), for the purchase of various maintenance, repair, and operating supplies

The council approved a three-year annual purchase order from Baker & Taylor, LLC for books, cataloguing services, and library supplies, and approval of a three-year annual purchase order from Bibliotheca, LLC for electronic books.

The council approved an agreement with Bateman Community Living, LLC dba TRIO Community Meals to provide food services for the Elderly Nutrition Program.

The council set a public hearing to consider an ordinance amending Inglewood Municipal Code Chapter 12 (Planning and Zoning), including Zoning Code Amendment (ZCA-2020-003) to modify-self-storage Facility regulations citywide and to consider proposed substantial amendments to the Fiscal Year 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan to reallocate program funds for the Minor Home Repair Program in the amount of $276,553.

The council adopted Ordinance No. 21-01 to establish salaries and conditions of employment for Fiscal Year 2020-2021, introduced October 27, 2020.

The council approved an initiative by Council Member Padilla requesting approval of City Sponsorship of the 2020 Annual District 2 Christmas Drive-thru Toy and Canned Food Drive to be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the District 2 Community Center located at 1201 N. La Tijera Boulevard. 

During the public comments Member Dotson commented on the surge in COVID-19 cases and urged everyone to wear their mask to reduce the spread of the virus. Member Padilla announced that the City Hall would be closed on Wednesday, Veteran’s Day, and thanked all Veterans for their service. Member Morales thanked voters for their support of his candidacy and for their ongoing support. Member Franklin acknowledged veterans for their service and Mayor Butts congratulated the individuals who won their respective election races in the City of Inglewood and closed the meeting in honor of several Inglewood residents who are no longer with us.
