The city of Inglewood is responding to the call of its heartbeat – the entrepreneurs of the city.
Organizations of the California Association for Local Economic Development, Next Level
Inglewood, Outsmart Disaster, CALED, and SCALE joined forces at the Inglewood Senior
Center to inform business owners of the advantages and supplementary aid available to them.
The Destination Market Street Façade and Tenant Improvement Program aims to revitalize
and attract more business to the downtown/Market street area. Funded entirely through a
grant from the State of California, the Program will enable the City to award grants of up to
$250,000 to eligible businesses and property owners for improvements including, but not
limited to, exterior and interior painting, signage, installation of new lighting, replacement of
storefront windows and awnings, ADA compliant improvements, furniture, fixtures and
equipment, and hazardous material abatement.
“This is the nextstep in Inglewood’s renaissance,”said Mayor Butts. “Inglewood will be the region’s
front door (for all nation-wide celebrationslike) the next Super Bowl, NBA All-Star weekend and
World Cup (as well as) the 2028 Olympic Games and countless other events. Destination Market
Street will facilitate investment in our businesses, helping them become preferred destinations for
residents and visitors to eat, shop and play – not just during these events – but every day of the week
for years to come.”
Mayor Butts’ work with the city council shows a willingness to adhere to the people’s cries for
support in overseeing and managing the health of small businesses in Inglewood. Highlights of
the grant and adjacent development projects include the Inglewood Transit Connector that
will bring shoppers directly to the store fronts as well as setting aside a budget of $50 million
for affordable housing!
The people have spoken and their leaders are listening!
