Artivist (that’s artist and activist) Vic Mensa is bringing a global coalition building opportunity to
Miracle Theater. On April 26th, Vic and a slew of other artivists will host Liberación Collective:
The Congo and Lebanon starting at 2 PM. Sponsored by Travel With Purpose and Artivists Ent.,
Liberación Collective: The Congo & Lebanon is an event to educate and draw parallels between
different global issues to find common experiences among marginalized communities in Los
Angeles.
Funds raised will be directed to Friends of Congo and used to house displaced women and
children, secure food and water, build a communal kitchen, and provide return packets (phone,
seeds, cash, and transportation) for women returning to their villages. The event will also raise
funds for Egna Legna in Lebanon, which works with African women trapped in the Kafala
system. Proceeds will be used for food, women’s hygiene products, diapers, rent and medical
assistance. Festivities include a program of music, poetry, the screening of Oscar nominated
documentary: A Soundtrack to a Coup d’Etat, workshops and a flea market to support small
businesses.
Vic Mensa, a rapper and activist from Chicago, uses his platform to speak about Pan-
Africanism, mental health, and sobriety. Mensa is passionate about raising up a new generation
and a new wave of adoration, respect and investment in The Continent. Artivist Entertainment
aims to educate and mobilize communities through art.
The event will be from 2-10 PM.
