Inglewood, CA ー On November 3, 2020, voters in the City of Inglewood’s 4th Council District chose Dionne Faulk as their next Councilwoman. She will be the only woman on the council and the second woman to ever serve on the Inglewood City Council.

“I am honored to have earned our community’s support in this campaign,” stated Faulk. “Thank you to every resident who made their voices heard in our democratic process. I look forward to working with Mayor Butts and my Council colleagues to support Inglewood’s families and small businesses during this pandemic.”

In preparation of her transition to the City Council, Faulk will be resigning from her seat on the Inglewood Unified School Board. In a letter to the School District and the community, she expressed her gratitude to her fellow board members, the County Administrator, Dr. Erika Torres, and IUSD students and their families for their support and commitment for building a stronger future for Inglewood’s schools.

“This year in 2020, our entire IUSD leadership team really came together and worked with our families, community members, and stakeholders to provide a safe quality educational experience for our IUSD Scholars during COVID-19,” stated Faulk. “For the first time since going into receivership in 2012, and due to the IUSD team work and the diligent efforts of everyone, we announced earlier this year the positive certification of our IUSD budget. Because of this, our District is on track to start transitioning out of receivership soon. Our goal is to restore IUSD to the quality District that it once was so that it again will be the “Jewel of the South Bay.” I look forward to working with our Mayor and City Council Members when I transition to City Council and advocating on behalf of our IUSD Scholars at City Hall.”

Faulk has vowed to put her experience and skills to work on behalf of Inglewood residents. She will focus on ensuring our families remain safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. She’ll also focus on helping small businesses and maintaining our city services during this challenging time.
