George Strait, Monster Jam, international soccer matches and more.
Plans to develop “Rams Village” in Woodland Hills is full speed ahead. The Kroenke
Organization, ran by Rams owner Stanley Kroenek, is building a 52-acre village in
Warner Center. This will serve as the official headquarters, operating all of its business
offices, and training center for Rams players. Kroenke aspires to build a similar feat of
Hollywood Park & Casino in the valley, naming, “new entertainment venues, a retail
village, and residential offerings” as part of his team’s full plans to expand the luxury and
brand of the LA Rams across the greater Los Angeles area.
This would be the first venture to center the San Fernando Valley as a hub for
entertainment and connection. They certainly have the land out there and there is
definitely a need for entertainment up the hill. But the distance between Woodland Hills
and Inglewood begs the question, why did so much money go into building SoFi
Stadium to begin with? Wouldn’t it have made sense to completely build and develop
the Rams Village, including a state of the art stadium, to go with it? Perhaps, owners
are skeptical whether people would make the drive up to the valley to see their home
team play. But if people from the Valley travel to Pasadena to watch UCLA play and to
Dodger Stadium in East LA, others would certainly be willing to travel to the Valley.
Nonetheless, this will bring new jobs, new appeal and likely an economic boom to a
pretty deserted part of the city and give young people something to do outside of seeing
movies at the Sherman Oaks Galleria or going to house parties in Northridge.
It’s a Rams world in L.A. I’m just happy to be living in it.
