The Clippers Care! How Morningside’s Final Graduating Class is Going out with a Bang

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

American poet Vitamin C once said, “As we go on, we remember, all the times we had together,
and as lives change, come whatever, we will still be friends forever”.
And the Los Angeles Clippers are giving the final graduating class of Morningside High a
memory they’ll soon not forget.
The Morningside Monarch Alumni Association, once informed that the school would be shutting
down, was determined to make sure Morningside Seniors received their senior rights of
passage like prom, grad night and a senior breakfast.  When members reached out to the big
guys in Inglewood (SoFi Stadium, Hollywood Park, the Chargers, the Rams and the Clippers),
the Clippers were the only ones to answer the call.
The Clippers’ pledged to spend $117,600 which breaks down to $980 per senior and will cover
each graduating senior’s prom ticket, grad bash, senior breakfast, yearbook, and all class
apparel including a letterman jacket, class of ‘25 hoodie and jersey.
While the 2025 Prom theme and grad bash details aren’t public knowledge at this time, we know
the last graduating class of Morningside High will have a blast! Some of the most isolating
memories in your formative years can come from not having the money to participate in special
senior moments. I remember having to miss out on purchasing a letterman jacket and class ring
when I was a high school senior because the cost of prom expenses and the yearbook was so
high! I accepted my fate but I know having that memorabilia would have made me feel more
connected to my high school after I graduated.

The Clippers have bestowed an incredible blessing on these blossoming young adults and the
financial burden that their parents or caretakers might have had to undergo.
This Fall, Inglewood High School will receive the recurring Morningside High scholars as
Assemblymember Tina McKinnor works tirelessly to get the school district out of financial
gridlock and invest in the remaining Inglewood schools at the level they deserve.
The grads will take a final bow and strut on June 4th and the ceremony will be livestreamed on
YouTube for all who want to honor the graduates as well as the long-lasting legacy of this
school. Memories will be archived at the Inglewood Public Library as well as yearbooks from
past classes are on display to learn about and reminisce on the Morningside Monarchs that
came before.
