How to Avoid Chaos When President Biden and Trump Come to Town

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

By Veronica Mackey

President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are heading to Southern California this month for big-ticket fundraisers.  But no matter what political side you’re on, one thing is for sure— their presence is bound to bring traffic delays and detours.

And that’s not all.  Biden’s unpopular stance against Palestine and Trump’s newfound classification as a convicted felon are likely to bring massive protests as well.

Bottom line:  Certain areas of L.A. and Orange County are expected to be havens of  frustration and hotbeds of anger as well.  If you want to minimize the chaos, keep reading.

Trump will be kicking off his fundraising efforts with a private campaign reception in Beverly Hills on Friday, June 7. He’ll be heading to Newport Beach the same day for another event hosted by virtual reality entrepreneur Palmer Luckey.

The following weekend, President Biden will headline a star-studded fundraiser at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.  George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Barack Obama will speak.

Motorists who simply want to get from Point A to Point B without incident are advised to check in with talk radio stations and traffic apps to find alternative routes, or change their plans altogether.

While exact locations and routes are not usually available due to security concerns, motorists will generally want to avoid Newport Beach (about 40 miles southeast of Downtown L.A.) and Beverly Hills (North of Pico Blvd. in L.A. and West of the Mid-Wilshire area) while Trump is in Southern California on June 7.

Information about the exact date of President Biden’s fundraiser could not be verified.  But it will be held the weekend of June 14 at the Peacock Theatre (formerly the Nokia Theatre and Microsoft Theatre) in Downtown L.A. Try and avoid the area around Staples Center on and around Figueroa Avenue, from Washington Blvd. to Temple St.

Also, check local traffic updates on KNX FM Radio, Waze and INRIX Traffic apps.  Good luck!
