AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile Users Report Issues
A cellular outage occurred on Thursday, affecting thousands of AT&T users in the United States. This disruption led to issues with calls, text messages, and emergency services in major cities such as San Francisco. Around 73,000 incidents were reported at approximately 8:15 a.m. ET, as per data from the outage tracking website Downdetector.com. AT&T acknowledged that some customers were experiencing interruptions and assured that they were working urgently to restore service. The company recommended using Wi-Fi calling until normal service was resumed.
The outage also impacted the ability of individuals to reach emergency services by dialing 911, according to a statement from the San Francisco Fire Department on social media. Additionally, there were reports of disruptions for users of Verizon, T-Mobile, and UScellular as shown on Downdetector. However, both T-Mobile and Verizon stated that their networks were functioning normally and suggested that the outage might be due to customers attempting to connect to alternative networks.
