In the last City Council Meeting of the year and in advance of City Hall’s year end closure, which will begin on Friday, the council conducted a public hearing to consider adoption of a resolution to adjust water service rates.
Following a comprehensive presentation of the current condition of the city’s water supply systems that explained in detail the need for a rate adjustment that has not occurred since 2012, the council was met by nearly a dozen citizens who expressed their objection to the proposed rate increase.
The council members listened carefully to the citizens concerns and thanked them for their input and answered their objections before adopting the resolution.
The council authorized the payment of an invoice submitted by Stone Planning LLC for providing the analysis of future uses of a proposed National Basketball Association (NBA) arena in Inglewood and rejected all bids submitted for the Building Maintenance Unit, per Bid No. RFB-0116.
The council approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Inglewood and the County of Los Angeles for hearing services of the County’s Civil Service Commission for appeal cases involving discipline and employment terminations and adopted a resolution amending the 2019-2020 fiscal year budget to accept a Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). (General Fund)
Council approved an Agreement with Versaterm for maintenance and support services and software licensing, authorized the payment of invoices for canine training and related services and for medical review services and adopted a resolution amending the 2019-2020 budget, authorizing a budget transfer for specific Police Department expenditures.
Council approved an agreement with Sully-Miller Contracting Co., for the South Prairie Avenue Improvements Project and agreed to pay outstanding invoices submitted by S & L Specialty Construction, Inc., for construction work on RSI Phase XV, Group 12 and invoices submitted by HHJ Construction, Inc., for construction work on RSI Phase XV, Group 14.
The council approved an agreement with HHJ Construction, Inc., to provide residential sound insulation work on 67 residential units (RSI Phase XV, Group 21J), per Bid No. CB-19-16 and an agreement with So Cal Construction Inc., to provide residential sound insulation work on 45 residential units.
The council members individually and collectively thanked the community for participating in the water rate increase public hearing and reminded everyone that they too consume Inglewood water; expressing the fact that while rate increases of any type are not welcomed, in the case of the water rate increase, it is in the best interest of the City of Inglewood long term.
They also expressed their appreciation to the community for supporting the Toy and Canned Food Drive and the Inglewood Police Department Toy Drive.
Everyone was reminded to conduct any urgent city business this week inasmuch as City Hall will be closed for the holidays at the end of the day on Friday and will re-open next year.
